Rerun & Compare

Rerunning a discovery pulls fresh data from your connectors and generates a new report version, complete with comparison notes showing what changed. This is how you track progress on your IAM improvement initiatives.

How It Works

1. Click Rerun — From any completed discovery, click "Rerun Discovery"
2. Fresh data — Compass fetches current metrics from all connected systems
3. Change detection — The platform compares new metrics against your previous report
4. Review changes — You see a summary of what changed before the new report generates
5. New version — A new report version is created (e.g., v1.0 → v2.0) with comparison notes

What Gets Compared

• Metrics — Each key metric shows its previous value, new value, and the delta
• Findings — New findings are highlighted, resolved findings are noted
• Compliance scores — Framework scores show improvement or regression
• Benchmarks — Your position relative to benchmarks is updated

Comparison Notes

Every section of the rerun report includes AI-generated comparison notes that explain:

• What improved and why
• What regressed and potential causes
• What stayed the same
• Whether changes align with the action plan from the previous report

Rerun Limits

Best Practices

• Monthly reruns — Run monthly to catch gradual improvements and new issues
• Post-project reruns — Rerun immediately after completing a major remediation initiative
• Pre-audit reruns — Generate a fresh report before compliance audits
• Track against action plan — Use comparison notes to verify that your action plan is working
